Women in Reform Movements

Women in the United States during the 19th century organized and participated in a great variety of reform movements to improve education, to initiate prison reform, to ban alcoholic drinks, and, during the pre-Civil War period, to free the slaves.

At a time when it was not considered respectable for women to speak before mixed audiences of men and women.
Now women are part of many kind of reform movements, about them and their problems and rights or other social problems they are concerned about.

I think this is great as everybody is allowed to express and fight for their rights and interests, and woman are taking a very important part on social matters and defendin them, this is positive for society and this is the only way people and the goberment hear and understand the importance of some matters and isues.
